Accessibility
Public safety information should be usable by everyone. Here's our commitment and how to reach us if something gets in your way.
Our commitment
The Jeffersonville Police Department is committed to ensuring this website is accessible to people with disabilities. We design and build to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA — the technical standard adopted for state and local government websites under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
What we've done
- Semantic structure with skip-to-content links, landmarks, and a logical heading order
- Full keyboard operability, visible focus indicators, and interactive targets sized for touch
- Color contrast that meets or exceeds AA thresholds for text and interface elements
- Descriptive alternative text for meaningful images and labels on all form fields
- Live regions that announce updates on the crime data and alert areas to screen readers
- Responsive layouts that work from small phones to large displays
- Spanish-language support for key content, with more being added
