DETECTIVES

The Detective Division handles all major investigations. It is divided into three units – Investigative, Evidence/Property, and Narcotics. Detectives also work closely with our federal partners as Task Force Officers with the FBI, DEA, and USSS.

MAJOR CRIMES

The Major Crimes Unit investigates crimes against persons to include robbery, homicide, suspicious deaths, domestic violence, aggravated assaults, and sex crimes. These Detectives follow leads on cases and use many different resources during their investigations including computer databases, other law enforcement agencies, and federal agencies to locate and apprehend suspects.

NARCOTICS

The Narcotics Unit conducts investigations into short- and long-term narcotic and weapon violations, organized criminal enterprises, and controlled substance offenses. This Unit works closely with many local, state, and federal partners including, but not limited to the FBI Drug Task Force, DEA, Indiana State Police, and Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

PROPERTY CRIMES

The Property Crimes Unit is responsible for the investigation of crimes against property such as burglary, theft, criminal mischief, arson, and vehicle theft. The Detectives review police reports generated by patrol officers, help in developing leads in various cases, and conduct surveillance to assist in solving crimes. The Detectives coordinate with other agencies and personnel in order to identify suspects and to coordinate efforts to apprehend those suspects.
