Those who serve in these specialized units have demonstrated exceptional dedication by embracing extra duties and roles to ensure the safety and well-being of our community. Each division and team necessitates specialized training and unwavering commitment.
Adminstration
The Jeffersonville Police Department Administration is composed of a Chief, Assistant Chief, three Majors, and an Administrative Assistant who ensures smooth operations. The Mayor selects the Chief and Assistant Chief, while the Chief and Assistant Chief appoint the three Majors. This leadership team drives the department, setting standards of conduct for all personnel, uplifting morale, establishing both immediate and long-term objectives, and providing comprehensive direction for all facets of the department.
COMMUNITY POLICING
Our Community Outreach Coordinator actively collaborates with various factions within the local community - including neighborhood associations, local business owners, civic and religious leaders, among others. They are responsible for scheduling outreach events, participating in neighborhood meetings, updating the Department's social media profiles, and working alongside the community to enhance safety and increase police awareness. Additional members of our Administrative staff comprise a Training Coordinator, IT Specialist, and Chaplain.
Detectives
The Detective Division handles all major investigations. It is divided into three units – Major Crimes, Property Crimes, and Narcotics. Detectives also work closely with our federal partners as Task Force Officers with the FBI, DEA, and USSS.
